4/8/21 NYSPHA Sign-on letter to support for increased Social Determinants of Health funding for CDC in the Federal Budget to $50 million (TFAH).

NYSPHA signed onto a letter from the Trust For America's Health (TFHA), along with other 190 public health organizations from all around the country supporting a $50 million increase for Social Determinants of Health funding for CDC in Federal Budget. Click here to read the updated letter.

3/25/2021 NYSPHA supports public health research on firearms morbidity and mortality prevention.

NYSPHA has joined a letter to Congress cosigned by 202 national, state and local public health organizations in support of providing $50 million in funding shared evenly between the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to conduct public health research into firearm morbidity and mortality prevention.  Click here to read the House Letter and Senate Letter

3/2/2021 NYSPHA supports the Public Health Infrastructure Act.
NYSPHA supports the introduction of the Public Health Infrastructure Saves Lives Act (PHISLA) in the U.S. Senate. The bill would create a Core Public Health Infrastructure Program to help modernize public health at every level to ensure every American is served by a 21st-century health department. NYSPHA supported the introduction of the Public Health Infrastructure Saves Lives Act (PHISLA) in the U.S. Senate. The legislation would establish a new core public health infrastructure program with $4.5 billion in annual funding to bolster the nation’s efforts to fight the COVID-19 pandemic, and strengthen its ability to respond to other public health challenges going forward.
