Impact of COVID-19 Pandemic:  Bringing Mental Health Front and Center

Thursday, July 16th, 12:00 - 1:00 PM (Eastern)

Presented by:  Brett Harris, DrPH  and  Brianna Maher, MPH

New York State, as the epicenter of the COVID-19 pandemic, is anticipating a major increase in suicide risk and other mental health concerns. As of June 5, 2020, the state has seen over 30,000 deaths due to the virus, accounting for almost 30% of the nation’s COVID-19 deaths. Public health measures to reduce the spread of the virus have led to an increase in risk factors for suicide. This webinar will describe the impact of the pandemic on mental health, suicide, and related risk factors in New York State and services and resources that are available to public health professionals to help prevent suicide and promote mental wellbeing.
